# Voice drafts

Dictate into the composer with an explicit Apple Speech or local Whisper engine.

## Start a voice draft

Focus the composer and press Control + Option + D, or use the microphone control. Orylo progressively inserts the transcript into the draft so you can edit it before sending.

## Speech engines

- Apple Speech uses the language you select from the languages available on the Mac.
- Whisper Local uses a downloaded, checksum-verified multilingual model and preserves the detected language.
- Orylo never silently changes engines after a failure.

## Microphone permission

The first recording uses the native macOS microphone permission prompt. If access is denied, Orylo offers a direct path to system settings and does not simulate recording.
