# Connect MCP tools

Manage tool connections centrally and assign only what an Assistant needs.

<a id="connect"></a>

## Add a tool connection

In Settings, use MCP Servers to discover supported local configurations or add a server to Library. Review an imported JSON or Git configuration before accepting it.

Connection helpers can assist with finding and configuring a service. Enter credentials in the dedicated settings fields, not in a chat request. Installing an external server and authorizing its service remain separate steps.

## Test, enable, and assign

1. **Test the connection** — Confirm that the configured server responds. A saved configuration is not proof of a successful connection.
2. **Enable the server** — Check the exposed tools and any required credentials before enabling use.
3. **Assign to an Assistant** — Choose the Assistants and tools that may use the connection. Unassigned services are not made available to every conversation.

## Know the boundaries

Orylo-assigned MCP tools can coexist with an Agent’s own MCP setup. Removing access in Orylo does not automatically remove a separate connection configured directly in that Agent.

The current integration focuses on tools. Built-in MCP OAuth, Resources, Prompts, server package installation, and automatic multimodal attachment conversion are not provided. Follow the connected service’s privacy and authorization rules.
